Calluses to Failure - the sad life of high school

I think I finally realized what a blog is for. It's to complain about life to people you don't know but are willing to listen anyways. (You people are listening, right? or is that "Followers" list just some squares of random pictures?) :D

(On the other hand, complaining to people you don't know might come back and bite you one day. Hanini knows all about that. *semi-glare.*)

I'm doing my math homework right now, and I'm on the seventh problem out of 30. I already skipped three problems because I don't know how to do it. Honestly, how do people understand calculus? It's demoralizing.

Today our math teacher passed back the test we took last week. You know how some teachers post everyone's grades in the class? (well, lots of teachers at my school do. They post a printout of everyone's grades and posts it in the classroom so everyone would know what their grade currently is.) Well, I look at that list and I have the lowest test score in the entire class. How do people get As in there??? Oh, and my grade was a 43%.

The sad part? I don't have a problem with it anymore. I'm already used to failing in that class. You remember the days when you would cry over a B? Those days are long gone for me...My highest grade all year was like a 76%. Calculus just isn't for me, I guess. Sometimes when I don't know how to do a problem at all I just write pitiful stuff like "donut" as the answer. This time I wrote "This test is like watching a train derailment in slow motion." My teacher drew a happy face next to that. He's a good natured, humorous guy, so thats why I dare write such stuff on my tests. If I'm failing, might as well fail with a little style. :D Oh, for that matter, I need a REALLY good April Fools prank for him. Any ideas?????

So then right after Calculus there's Physics class for me. Usually I do a little better with Physics, but this time I forgot to study for the test and, well, failed. With the curve, I got a 59%. (Why am I telling all of you this? You're probably losing any respect you ever had for me...assuming you had any in the first place.)

After lunch, we had a map quiz in history where we had to identify countries of Europe in pre and post WWII. (You know how the map of Europe has a bunch of little obscure countries and regions, and they change every few decades. It's annoying.) 20 questions, I got maybe 10?

1) I cannot wait for spring break.
2) I cannot wait for summer.
3) I am scared of being rejected by colleges that have already rejected me. (Yes, if you get accepted into college in March, but then your grades slip in the last few months, colleges have the right to re-reject you in June or July if they feel like (bad word)ing with your life.)

It's sad when you're already used to failing so often. Heck, maybe I should post up some of my tests from my AP Chemistry class last year. THAT class was fun. The teacher was also really good natured, so I wrote a lot of humorous BS on my tests too. "Why is an atom do something or other?" "Because God made it that way." Sodium and Zinc or something and something: Na + Z times the sqrt of -1 = NaZi. It goes downhill from there. I drew random Pokemon on some pages of the test, other tests I drew fail objects like DVD rewinders and road signs that say "Dead End""No U Turn." and that kinda stuff. "Why is a 2nd order reaction slower than a 1st order reaction?" or some question like that. "Because by the time you eat your second order of hamburgers you are already somewhat full and it takes you longer to eat it. The first order, you are still hungry and so you will eat faster." My grades in that class were somewhat bipolar; my highest was an 85/90, my lowest was 15/90. "Question about some lab experiment testing freezing point depression with salt and sugar" "If I had salt and sugar I'd cook something yummy with it, not do lab tests with it." Silver Iodide, AgI, by commutative property = AIg = corrupt insurance company. Needless to say, my teacher will not forget about me for a very long time. I answered all the questions I remotely knew, but had some fun with the ones I had absolutely no clue on. But for some scary reason, I still managed a B in that class...

But in so many other places, failure's already become a sad part of my routine that I don't even take it seriously anymore. Seriously though, isn't that a problem?

How to face a College Rejection Letter

Feathery and I were talking the other day about colleges. Since we're both seniors, and both in California and applied to mostly the same colleges, we started comparing our acceptance/rejection letters.

(for those of you who still have a while to worry about college, you're lucky!!! It basically goes like this: If possible, finish all your SAT/ACTs by Junior year, October of your senior year should be the last time you go for the SAT. Applications begin in October, are due by the end of November, (depending on colleges, some go all the way until January,) you have the winter to chill a bit, and in mid to late March the colleges announce their decisions about your future.)

We found that we were both rejected from UC Berkeley and UCLA (UC stands for University of California, LA stands for Los Angeles.) Berkeley was my top choice, and LA was Feathery's.

After an appropriate amount of crying, we moved on to more humorous things trying to lighten things up. I found a letter online that people can send to the admissions office should they be denied admission. It goes like this:

Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for your letter of March 25, 2010. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me acceptance at your university.
This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of candidates it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.
Despite your university's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at this time. Therefore I will begin attending your university immediately following my high school graduation. I look forward to seeing you then.
Sincerely,

skys417

Feathery responded by writing her own letter, which definitely is just as interesting!

Dear Berkeley and UCLA,

I regret to inform you I am no longer interested in attending your universities, and will be disregarding your rejection letters. I understand that you are scared by my level of education and creativity, and I do not wish to impose myself upon your university at this time. I will be attending the University of California, Sunny Days, or possibly an Ivy League college and will live happily ever after there. Thank you very much.

So I guess this is how to face a rejection letter while keeping your ego intact. Your future, however, looks just as bleak. *pfft.*

So this is what happens on the threads after I leave...interesting...

Aw, guys. Squirrelly's been beat up enough...
[500] By: MarauderPrincess March 24, 2010 at 11:03 am

Aw…thanks Kevin!!!

Squirrelly needs someone to be nice to him.
So he won't glare anymore.
He's like a crotchety old man, scaring kids off of his lawn.
[505] By: MarauderPrincess March 24, 2010 at 11:04 am

aw. thanks kevin. I’m a crotchety old man?

I MEAN, DO YOU SEE HIS COMMENTS?
[509] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 11:05 am

*goes back and looks at comments*

sky is a MEANIE *cries*
[516] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 11:08 am

*wow, I am, aren’t I?*

@Star- we're just having fun. We joke around a lot, and Squirrelly glares at everyone for weeks like an old man if you slap him or something. It's quite funny.
[520] By: MarauderPrincess March 24, 2010 at 11:11 am

New reform #1: stop being so mean.
New reform #2: less glaring.

i AM nice!
i think me and sky have some kind of love hate thing going on
he says mean things
but i know he loooooves me really
[528] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 11:14 am

Debatable.

Squirrelly and I are always warring... but we recently agreed to a truce
[533] By: MarauderPrincess March 24, 2010 at 11:15 am

And it’s been fun ever since, right?

haha well sky holds a grudge
he was mad at me when i ate him. even though i puked him out and everything! i thought that was considerate of me!
[537] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 11:17 am

a truce? i dont think me and sky are ever going to get to a truce. i keep him up too late at night
[539] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 11:19 am

That’s part of the problem of why I’m mean to you. You know sleep deprivation is a tactic used to torture prisoners?

@kevin: i think you told us, but i forgot. does anyone know skyskwirls real name?
[838] By: princeskander March 24, 2010 at 12:37 pm

[867] By: MarauderPrincess March 24, 2010 at 12:43 pm

[882] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 12:46 pm

Ok. Fine. Since you were nice to me here, (and since I ‘m trying to not be so mean anymore) I’ll start being nice to you too. :D

hanini, i think you should tell us sky's real name, since he stole my voice and i still don't have it back.
[884] By: gummybeararmygeneral March 24, 2010 at 12:46 pm

@gummy: just look HW in my facebook friends when you get home
[895] By: hanini_panini March 24, 2010 at 12:49 pm

[898] By: gummybeararmygeneral March 24, 2010 at 12:49 pm

Ok. I need to unfriend hanini asap before my name gets out over the internet. (wait…that’d be mean to hanini.) *pfft*

Ignorance Is Bliss

Someone tell me what this is. What do I type here? Is this where I write stuff? What does this "Publish Post" button do? How do you use this blog? And what's a "blog" anyways? Do I just type stuff and wait for someone to steal my identity or come and assassinate me? See, if I didn't have a blog I can spend more time with my schoolwork and not be failing so badly. Plus, I don't have to worry about being assassinated.
