A sunset, a sunrise...

Hmm, maybe time for another quick update? A lot has happened for me in the last week, starting with being dumped five hundred miles from home, and having to find out how to scrounge out food and scratch out an existance...

Well, mostly it's the newness of everything that's bothering me. Lots to have to adapt to in a short time - tons of new people, a totally new place and a new environment, kind of a different weather, though not by much for me. New food and strange sleeping patterns. The fact of having to deal with everything on your own.

School starts tomorrow, well, technically today, since it is already past 12AM. But today was a really fitting last day of summer for me. I went with some friends to the beach this afternoon, and we ended up staying around just long enough to watch the sunset. I took that picture as we watched the sun dip into the cloud layer, lighting the clouds in a magnificent neon glow. Within fifteen minutes, the cloud had reappeard below the clouds, and it went dipping lower and lower until it disappeared as a pinprick into the horizon...

Only later did we realize, this was our last day of summer.

Such a perfect and fitting way to end summer, if you think about it.


I know we start school really late and that most everyone else has started long ago, but I still want to wish everyone luck in the months ahead. Every day is it's own opportunity. Make the most of it. The sun sets, but it always rises again. Perhaps illuminating something different each time, but still always there. In two Latin words, Carpe Diem. :)
